This might be the craziest week of the year for me. I’m wrapping up the Mariners season, working a Big Sky football double-header and meeting the Seahawks in Houston for our game Sunday. I haven’t had much time to sit down and write, but a photographer friend sent me a few pictures last night from the Jacksonville game and I wanted to share one.
When I look at this picture I’m reminded of a couple things:
- 1. I have a great job that I enjoy tremendously.
- 2. Athletes and coaches are human too.
Pete Carroll and I are both standing in the rain, getting soaked and enjoying the excitement of pre-game. Prior to the interview we both commented on how crazy it was both with the weather and the fans. Pete is the head coach of the Seahawks, but he’s also a person who enjoys soaking in (pun intended) everything about game day.
Don’t forget the human element. From the top level executive to the entry level employee. Everyone of them has emotions, feelings, goals, fears, etc… Business is business, even in the NFL, but you can’t make the mistake of treating people like robots. They won’t respond.
