Thursday and Friday were a bit of a blur for me. I finished up the road trip with the Mariners late Thursday and flew home form Kansas City. Less than 24 hours later I was back on a plane with the Seahawks and heading to Charlotte.
I am often asked if actually travel on the same plane as the team. And the answer is, ‘Yes, I do.’
The plane itself isn’t special, although you can see the special decal on the side. It is a chartered flighted but just a regular plane that Delta uses for other commercial trips during the week.
The coaches sit in first class, the staff (including me) sit in the next section of seats usually reserved for business class and the players sit back in coach. So picture Brandon Mebane and Red Bryant sitting in the seats you find uncomfortable on normal flights and maybe the seats won’t feel so small to you. The upside for the players – no one has to sit in a middle seat.
I get a lot of work done on an outbound flight. That’s usually when I rewrite my notes onto my notepad for game day, and make sure that I haven’t missed anything. Speaking of which I should get a little more work done right now. I’ll post my game day schedule later today.
