Welcome to Christmas week!
For many of us, it means a chance to get away, relax and spend time with family. I am among the many taking a little time off this week, so I’m switching up the usual Monday post.
This week the focus isn’t on talking with your co-workers and colleagues, but talking to your family and friends. These conversations are important in maintaining relationships and reconnecting. Sports conversations can play a role in that and can get the ball rolling, but steer the conversation toward topics that you know will produce meaningful exchanges. Here are a couple ideas:
- Stay away from hot-button sports topics that could lead to fighting or ugly debates.
- Pick a success story like Peyton Manning and his record-setting season as a way to see who’s reached personal and professional goals.
- Use sports cities to engage in conversations about travel or vacations.
Play the role of journalist during the conversations and get to know the people around you a little better this holiday season.
I’ll be back later in the week but until then – Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
