According to my husband, “People who like to talk are going to talk. People who don’t want to talk aren’t going to talk. Not much is going to change that.”
He’s got a point. But I think I can make one, too.
I can’t change your personality, but perhaps I can inspire you to talk more often, especially about sports. You should have a small talk topic at the ready and as a way for colleagues to engage with you. Here’s the cold hard truth, if you don’t give colleagues a way to talk to you about small stuff, their not as likely to seek you out for a conversation about bigger topics like the actual business or work at hand.
