It’s a big week for teams in the Northwest.   Here’s what people will be talking about.

MLB  – Baseball’s trade deadline is July 31 so this is typically a busy week for teams, at least behind the scenes.   Players can be traded after the deadline but it’s a little more complicated.  I talked to one Mariners official who said he felt like the M’s trade deadline was a few weeks ago when Cliff Lee was sent to the Rangers.   Conversation Starters – Do you think the Mariners will make any more moves this week?  What would you do?

NFL – The Seahawks open Training Camp July 31.  There are almost too many story lines to count.  If you’re talking to a Hawks fan, try these questions:  What do you want to see from the Hawks in camp?  Where do you think the biggest position battle will be? How do you think they’ll do this season?

For a fun NFL topic – check out this article about a chance to pay to watch pre-season games online.  Would you do it?

The Champions Tour comes to the Northwest this week.  The US Senior Open starts Thursday at Sahalee.   Some players aren’t happy about playing majors in back to back weeks, especially since many of them were in England for the Sr. British Open.  What makes them “seniors?” You have to be at least 50 years old to qualify for the Champions Tour.   Here’s a little more info.    An easy conversation starter- Are you planning to go and check it out this weekend?

WNBA – It’s been an impressive year for the Storm.  The team matched a WNBA mark with a 20-2 start to the season.  This team looks solid and ready for another title run.   Conversation starter – Have you seen what the Storm are doing this year?
