Happy Monday! Just a couple weeks left before Christmas, good luck to everyone with shopping left. While you’re out and about this week, may we suggest a few conversation starters to keep things peaceful and bright while waiting in those holiday lines.
NFL – The league was forced to move a game out of Minnesota after snow caused a portion of the Metrodome roof to collapse. The Vikings will now play the Giants Monday night in Detroit. The change gives Brett Favre an extra day to rest a bum shoulder, but he’s not confident about his ability to start. He has a streak of 297 consecutive games started on the line. Does he play? Did you see the video of the roof collapse? Where do they play next week’s Bears-Vikings game if the roof can’t be fixed?
NFL – Keep an eye on the PR problems for the New York Jets this week. Their strength and conditioning coach tripped an opposing player during a punt return Sunday. The coach apologized after the game and said he would accept his punishment from the league. No word yet on what that will be. What kind of punishment does he deserve? What does this say about the state of the Jets?
MLB – It appears Cliff Lee could make a decision this week as to which team he’ll be playing for this year. Lee is the biggest free agent on the market and an incredibly efficient and dominating pitcher. The top front-runners for his services appear to be the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers. Where should he go? What do you think he’ll bring to the team?
College Football – Auburn quarterback Cam Newton won the Heisman by a landslide over the weekend. Newton has been embroiled in controversy for most of the season after NCAA investigators discovered Newton’s father Cecil marketed Cam in a “pay-to-play” scheme coming out of high school. The paying of players is a major NCAA violation. The NCAA did not find enough evidence proving Cam knew of the scheme. What do you think of his award? Do you think the NCAA will ever find more evidence and force him to give it back?
